Communication opportunities are always there

My colleague told me a great story yesterday, the day of the 4th anniversary of his second wedding. It was about some great communication opportunities he got with practically no effort.
“I will tell you a story of how our wedding was attended by over 300 people, including an oligarch and shown on a national TV channel on a New Year’s Eve,” he said as I started painting vivid pictures in my mind.
Initially, he had planned a quiet wedding ceremony with no guests or relatives. But just before the formal ceremony he and his bride were asked if they would agree to a TV crew filming them. They didn’t mind and the crew did their job, somewhat puzzled by the absence of guests. The producer then said that the program would be aired on the last day of the year at approximately 6 pm.

After the ceremony the newlyweds went to a corporate New Year party at a trendy business center where the oligarch owner was renting office space for his companies. The corporate party immediately turned into an impromptu wedding celebration.

The producer had kept his word. So that the relatives and friends who had missed the wedding ceremony could see the highlights on the national TV

I wrote this post because I am positive there are always communication opportunities out there we could use in our professional lives. You just have to keep your eyes and mind open to them.
